England saved a little girl from drowning in a pond after the car she was riding in went off the road into the pond on I-90 in South Dakota in April 2007. He was awakened by his wife/co-driver after she saw the car go off the road and into the pond. Richard jumped from the truck and went into 8 feet of water after hearing the little girl scream for help. He and two passersby jumped in and Richard forced open the hatch to get the girl out. Unfortunately the driver (the little girls father) of the car died when they could not get him out in time.Ronnie Green driver for A. Passmore & Sons was on U.S. 84 in New Mexico in April of 2007 when he saw a man attacking a pregnant woman on the side of the road.According to police, the woman’s boyfriend tried to force her into his pickup truck, then hit her with the vehicle’s door and ran over her legs and pelvis.A former Firefighter and Paramedic, Green stopped his truck to help the injured woman. The boyfriend then tried to run Green and the injured woman over, and hit another good Samaritan -Michael Rutkowski and Green slid her body up under his truck and shielded her with his body. Then Green placed the injured woman in his cab and jumped back out to try and help Michael Rutkowski, who nevertheless died at the scene.Rick Tower driver for Earl Bryant Trucking, was heading home on Highway 96 in September 2007, when he witnessed a car leave the road and plunge into the Klamath River. Tower stopped and jumped from his truck and saw the car floating in the river, and heard an elderly woman screaming for help. He jumped and swam to the car, and freed the woman and swam her to shore. She suffered a broken ankle and hypothermia.David Glenn Virgoe driver for Wilburn Archer Trucking was killed in June 2007 on Highway 400 near Bradford, Ontario.
